Cattle Ranch is a farming building found in Pharaoh.
Background[]
Cattle ranches use straw to make meat. Ranch meat is considered a separate category from game meat. As grain farms produce straw, cattle ranches are a natural partner to grain farms, and can easily produce a varied diet for the citizens of a city lucky enough to have access to both.
Assuming it is adequately supplied with straw, a fully-staffed cattle ranch produces 47% of 100 units of beef per month, or 565 units per year on average. This means that a cattle ranch requires 5.65 floodplain grain farms (or half this number of meadow farms) to run at maximum capacity. This also means that, should straw also be locally produced, grain production would normally be much higher than meat production outside of seriously bad floods occurring.
Meat (a separate category from game meat) is the most expensive food option in the game, at 47 debens/100 units to import and 35 debens/100 units to export. It is still a very poor export option, considering the low prices compared to most non-food goods and the slow production rates. It is the worst option for importing to feed a population, though prices aren't exorbitant. For more information, see Food and Goods.
As with most food production buildings, cattle ranches are undesirable to live next to.
