Copper Mine is a building found in Pharaoh.
Background[]
As the name suggests, the Copper Mine is used to mine ore-bearing rock for Copper. The copper can be used for export or for making weapons at a Weaponsmith. They are the highest-priced raw material (and second highest-priced item in general), and are nearly always one of the best options to make money wherever they are available for production. A fully staffed copper mine produces 80% of 100 units per month, or 960 units per year. With Ptah's temple complex, this is increased to 114% of 100 units per month, or 1371 units per year. By default, copper sells for a hefty 185 debens per 100 units. Weapons, which are produced from copper, also sell for considerable amounts where they are exportable. As a fully staffed weaponsmith uses about 565 units of copper per year, each copper mine can supply about 1.6 weaponsmiths; a copper mine that benefits from Ptah's Temple Complex can handle two weaponsmiths.
While copper is considerably more valuable than gems or gold, copper mines are the cheapest of the three mine types. Starting a copper industry is thus both relatively cheap and extremely profitable if exportable. The fact that copper is a quickly gathered raw material means that the labor force required to produce adequate amounts of copper is also lower than most other profitable export goods.
Copper mines are extremely undesirable to live close to. While they usually have no risk of catching fire, they are prone to collapse.
